Valentines Breakfast Board

Ingredients

For the Waffles

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Accompaniments

  • 2-3 mini croissants store-bought or homemade
  • 4-6 slices Swiss roll preferably strawberry vanilla
  • 4-6 heart-shaped sugar cookies or whole wheat sugar cookies
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup Nutella or any type of chocolate spread
  • 1/2 cup red jam strawberry or raspberry
  • 1 cup strawberries hulled and halved
  • 1 cup blueberries

Optional Toppings

  • Powdered Sugar
  • Honey
  • Pecans
  • Edible Roses
  • Sugar Flowers/Heart Jellies

Instructions

Make the Waffles

  • Preheat your heart-shaped waffle maker.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla. Slowly add it to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter and give it a final mix.
  • Pour the batter into your waffle maker and cook according to the instructions. (They cook fast usually 2–3 minutes per waffle!)
  • When done, let them cool just slightly so they hold their shape on the board.

Build the Board

  • Start with your base. Grab a large wooden board, a cutting board, or even a big serving tray. Whatever you have will work!
  • Place your waffles first. These are your “anchors,” so spread them out evenly across the board.
  • Add the croissants, Swiss roll slices, and cookies. Nestle them in between the waffles no need for perfection, just balance it out.
  • Add small bowls for spreads. Fill them with softened cream cheese, Nutella, and your favorite red jam. Place them around the board for easy scooping.
  • Scatter your fruit. Strawberries and blueberries fill in the gaps, add a pop of color, and make everything feel extra fresh.
  • Finish with toppings. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle a little honey over the berries, and if you’ve got edible flowers or jellies, tuck them in like little surprises.
