They look like you spent hours crafting them, but they’re totally doable with boxed cake mix and a few handy shortcuts (thank goodness, right?).

Here’s What You’ll Need

For the Frosting:

Let’s Get Baking!
Step 1: Preheat and Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a muffin tin with those pretty blue cupcake liners or spray it with nonstick spray if you’re out. (No judgment, we’ve all been there.)
Step 2: Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, dump in your chocolate fudge cake mix. Add the water, oil, eggs, and chocolate pudding mix. Grab your hand or stand mixer and mix on medium speed until it’s all silky and smooth. This batter smells like instant happiness.

Step 3: Fill and Bake
Spoon the batter into your cupcake liners until they’re about 2/3 full don’t overfill unless you’re okay with muffin-top cupcakes (which honestly, aren’t the worst). Bake for 16–20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool completely. And I mean completely we’re about to fill them, and hot cupcakes and fudge filling don’t mix.

Let’s Talk Frosting
This frosting is creamy, smooth, and just the right amount of sweet. And the white chocolate? It’s the secret weapon that makes these taste like you picked them up from a fancy bakery.
Step 4: Cream the Butter
In a big mixing bowl, cream your softened butter until it’s fluffy and pale yellow. This takes about 2–3 minutes and sets the stage for our fluffy frosting.

Step 5: Melt the White Chocolate
Pop the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them in 15-second bursts, stirring in between. Don’t rush this step burnt chocolate is a tragedy I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Add a tiny splash of water if needed to get it smooth.

Step 6: Combine
Pour the melted white chocolate into the butter mixture. Add your vanilla extract and mix until everything is beautifully blended.

Step 7: Add Powdered Sugar
Here’s where the frosting magic happens. Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time. After each cup, add a little splash of half and half or milk to keep things smooth. Mix until everything is creamy, dreamy, and frosting-like.

Step 8: Add Color
Add your blue gel food coloring one drop at a time until you hit that perfect royal blue. It’s okay to be picky here this is the showstopper color, so play until it feels just right. Mix until evenly combined.

Let’s Fill These Beauties
Step 9: Hollow Out the Centers
Take the handle of a spoon (or a clean finger I won’t tell) and poke a little hole in the center of each cupcake, about ¾ of the way down. You’re making space for that ooey-gooey fudge filling.

Step 10: Inject the Fudge
Load your cupcake injector with hot fudge sauce. Carefully inject a squirt into the center of each cupcake. Go slowly too much and it’ll overflow, too little and you’ll be sad later. You’ll get the hang of it by the third one!

The Grand Finale: Frost and Decorate
Step 11: Pipe the Frosting
Fill your piping bag with the gorgeous blue frosting and attach the large round tip. Pipe a generous swirl on top of each cupcake. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a Ziploc with the corner snipped it’s not fancy, but it gets the job done.

Step 12: Add Some Sparkle
Sprinkle that blue sanding sugar like you’re throwing pixie dust. It’s that extra sparkle that makes them feel enchanted.

Step 13: Top with a Rose
Finally, gently place one Wilton sugar rose on top of each cupcake. This little touch turns them into Belle-worthy masterpieces. And let’s be honest it’s the part everyone raves about.

Make Ahead Tips & Real Talk
These cupcakes can be made a day ahead, and they actually taste even better after sitting overnight in an airtight container. That gives the fudge time to really settle into the cake, and the frosting keeps its shape beautifully.
Storage tip: Keep them in a cool place, but don’t refrigerate unless your kitchen is super warm. The fridge can dry out the cake, and nobody wants that.
Real-life tip: If you’re making these with kids, set up an assembly line. Let little hands fill the cupcakes or sprinkle the sanding sugar. Just be ready for a bit of a mess and probably a few frosting-covered noses.
So there you have it Beauty and the Beast Cupcakes that are every bit as magical as they sound, with none of the stress. They’re rich, fudgy, and so fun to make (especially when you’re sneaking some frosting on a spoon while no one’s watching). More than anything, they’re a reminder that a little extra sparkle can go a long way even if your kitchen looks like a tornado just passed through.
Bake these for a party, a family movie night, or just because you’re feeling like a baking queen today. You’ve totally got this. And I promise, these cupcakes will be the Belle of the ball.
